Eden Valley Poultry Inc. is seeking an Animal Welfare Technician to join our team. Reporting to the Animal Welfare Specialist you will apply a continuous improvement approach to the development and the execution of animal care initiatives . Duties and Responsibilities Include: Monitoring, maintaining, and recording live bird welfare conditions in bird holding facilities from the time live birds are received into the facility. Consistently communicating with Live Haul team on prioritizing individual loads based on bird condition. Providing daily reports on any animal welfare related tasks and/or projects. Requirements and Qualifications: Knowledge or experience in animal welfare or animal agriculture is a strong asset. Comfortable working with and handling live animals. Proven written and verbal communication skills. Ability to follow policies and procedures. Ability to identify issues and implement creative and strategic solutions. Comfortable working alone and in a team environment. Computer skills an asset. Work Conditions: Hours of work approximately 5:30 a.m. – 1:30-2:00 p.m., Monday-Friday (occasional weekend required). May be required to work both indoors and outdoors. Will be working nearby forklifts and tractor trailers in dim lighting. Will be exposed to dust, fecal material and strong odours.
