Payroll & Benefits Administrator POSITION TYPE Full-Time/Regular SUMMARY The Payroll & Benefits Administrator will be responsible for performing complex tasks in relation to the processing of a bi-weekly payroll for medium-sized, unionized workforce. Additionally, this key role is responsible for the administration of all benefit plans including but not limited to Health, Dental, Short and Long-Term Disability, Employee Assistance, Canada Savings Bonds and Pension. The Payroll & Benefits Administrator will operate as the subject matter expert regarding payroll best practices as well as effective benefits administration and oversight. RESPONSIBILITIES Processes bi-weekly payroll for both union and non-union employees comprising of hourly and salaried employees. Setup and maintain employee records in Time and Attendance application Manage Time & Attendance reporting, hours import to payroll and timecard exceptions Investigates and resolves complex pay and system issues as they arise. Perform routine audits on payroll, benefits and  time and attendance output to ensure compliance and accuracy Prepare and submit records of employment. Maintain the HRIS by entering employee personal and employment information Respond to and effectively resolves employee inquiries in a timely manner Maintain a strong filing system throughout the course of the year to ensure smooth Year-End processes. Reconcile and remit third party remittances such as WCB, union dues, pension/RRSP and benefit premiums Coordination, administration and execution of all benefits related activities. Responsible for the administration of the Pension Plan. Maintain detailed records and documentation in accordance with statutory requirements. Work in conjunction with the leadership team and other departments to ensure employee records, vacation accruals etc. are accurate and up to date. Continuously keeps abreast on payroll & benefits best practices. REQUIRED SKILLS Highly proficient with Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, Outlook) Excellent communication skills, high level of discretion/confidentiality Highly organized and deadline-oriented Attention to detail Strong analytical skills REQUIRED EXPERIENCE Degree/Diploma in related field or equivalent experience. CPA Certification is an asset. 5+ years working within Payroll and Benefits. Solid background working with Pay and Time & Attendance Systems. Experience with NEBS PayWeb and Advanced Tracker applications an asset. Solid understanding of Year End processes Experience working in a medium-sized, unionized workplace is an asset.
